Jess Cogley

Dance coordinator

Jess began training in jazz and tap at the age of 9, and eventually picked up all other styles throughout her teenage years. Jess obtained her Certificate 3 in Performing Arts (Dance) at DanceWorld Studios, graduating in 2010, before beginning her full time dance training at Patrick Studios Australia in the Professional Development Course in Performing Art (Dance). Through this course, she trained extensively in jazz, commercial, contemporary, hip hop, lyrical, musical theatre, tap as well as singing and acting training; learning from some of the best teachers and choreographers in Melbourne.

Jess has performed at many corporate and charity events around Melbourne, gained experience in dance in television and has competed throughout Australia. Jess is a qualified Exercise Scientist, after having completed her Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science at Deakin University in 2017. In 2018 she will be commencing a Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours) at Monash University. Jess took on the position of Dance Coordinator in 2017, and has been teaching at Mordialloc Community Centre the past 9 years.

Nicole Kelly

Nicole has been dancing for over 20 years and is trained in all styles of dance, including the Cecchetti method of Classical Ballet. Throughout her dance training she has performed for both stage and television, but her true passion lies in teaching. In 2009 Nicole obtained her T.A.A.D Diploma of Tap Dance and after completing a Bachelor of Science she went on to obtain her Graduate Diploma of Education (Secondary). For over 10 years Nicole has taught children and adults of all ages at a variety of dance studios across Melbourne, in all dance styles. During this time, she has successfully trained students for dance examinations and competitions, as well as being involved in the writing of pre-school dance programs.

Nicole began teaching at the Mordialloc Dance Studio in 2011, and for 4 years she was the Dance Coordinator and Leading Teacher before she stepped down to pursue her school teaching career. She now works as a Secondary Maths, Science and Dance Teacher at Albert Park College. Nicole is passionate about dance and childhood development and strives to teach dance classes of the highest standard in an inclusive and nurturing environment. She is excited to be returning to Mordialloc Dance Studio in 2019 for her 9th year.

Emma Green

Emma started dancing at 5 and has trained in tap, jazz, ballet, contemporary, hip hop and musical theatre. After just one year of dancing she started competing in local competitions with solos and troupe work. At one stage she had 11 solos in all styles of dance: Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Contemporary, and Musical Theatre. When she was sixteen, Emma began training at Patrick Studios Australia where she was in the Senior Elite program for two years. After finishing her VCE, Emma began her Full Time Dance training with PSA in the Performing Arts Course and gained her Certificate 3 and 4 in Dance (2013).

Emma transferred over to the Musical Theatre Course in 2014 and graduated with a Diploma in Musical Theatre at the end of 2015. Whilst in the Musical Theatre Course, Emma performed in the show ‘Spring Awakening’, ‘Twisted Broadway’, and played the role of Cassie in ‘A Chorus Line’. This is Emma’s sixth year teaching at Mordialloc Dance Studio and she can’t wait for a fabulous 2019!

Sophie Sheppard

Sophie has been dancing since she was 4 years old and is trained in all styles of dance. She has completed classical ballet, jazz and tap exams of the ATOD syllabus and is also experienced in contemporary, lyrical and hip hop. Sophie has represented her school and state at numerous competitions and performances, including in America and with Paul Malek’s Project Y.

She has taught locally for the past few years and began at MCC Dance in 2015. Sophie is currently studying Food and Nutrition Science / Commerce at university and in 2016 completed her Certificate IV in Dance Teaching and Management at Transit Dance.

Simone Woolley

Simone began dancing at the age of 3 at Centrestage Performing Arts School in ballet, jazz, tap, acrobatics, singing, musical theatre and contemporary. In 2004, she was accepted into the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School. During her time at VCASS, Simone was exposed to many amazing teachers and dance industry professionals who fostered her talent and passion for dance. Simone graduated from VCASS in 2009, completing her VCE with a study score of 45 in dance. Following her secondary schooling, Simone chose to pursue her passion for commercial dance and accepted a position in the Full Time Performing Arts Course at Patrick Studios Australia.  Simone has extensive performance experience including La Grand Cirque, the Production Company’s Kismet, Opera Australia’s Turandot and Opera Australia’s The Ring Cycle. She has toured nationally with shows such as Viva Las Vegas, Cabaret De Paris and Mystic Magic Show.

Simone has been working for Crown Casino Entertainment Department as a dancer for the past 9 years, performing in numerous shows, private events, Crown campaigns, TV commercials and photo shoots. Simone has also performed for Channel 9’s The Footy Show, Deal or No Deal, Talking About My Generation, Emirates Melbourne Cup, The Australian Open, Coles Entertainment, The Opening Ceremony of the Special Olympics, as well as participated in many fashion parades for brands such as Big W, Pac Brands, Jockey, Intermo, Bonds and Loreal. In 2015, Simone accepted a contract with Norwegian Cruise Lines, travelling around the Bahamas for 8 months.

Throughout 2017, Simone completed her Pilates teaching qualifications. Simone has been teaching dance for the last 9 years at a variety of dance studios across Victoria.

Maddy Smith

Maddy Smith has been dancing since the age of 5. She moved to Melbourne from Adelaide to study her Certificate 4 at Patrick Studios Australia, then continuing with her Diploma in Dance at Transit Dance.

Since then she has continued to dance around Melbourne and has recently found her passion in teaching and choreographing which she continues to pursue. Maddy is excited to be joining the MCC Dance team in 2018, and cannot wait to work with you all.  This is Maddy’s second year teaching at Mordialloc Dance Studio and she cannot wait to see what 2019 brings!

Eloise Robertson

Eloise began dancing at the age of 11 with a musical theatre class and later picked up various other styles. She has trained in ballet under the RAD syllabus, as well as training for many years in contemporary, jazz, musical theatre and hip hop. Throughout her teens, Eloise participated in many local competitions in solos, duos and troupes, as well as competing for 6 years in the national championships for aerobics.

After completing her Undergraduate Double Degree of Primary Education and Arts at Monash University in 2018, Eloise was accepted to study a Masters of TESOL in 2019, where she will learn all about teaching English as an additional language. Her passion for teaching, combined with her love for dance means that she aims to provide a dance education that is both high quality and enjoyable.

Hannah Harvison

Hannah began her association with MCC as a 4 year old when she participated in Kindy Gym, before moving into the gymnastics program and training up to WAG level 8. Hannah commenced hip hop, jazz and contemporary classes with Mordialloc Dance Studio at age 10. Hannah represented Mordialloc Dance Studio in many local competitions as part of the elite team and in 2015 auditioned and accepted a role as a dancer for the Australian Katy Perry Tribute show.

Hannah continues to participate in Hip Hop and contemporary classes at the studio and is excited to be joining the dance teaching team in 2019. When not teaching dance, Hannah is a qualified intermediate level coach for the gymnastics program at the centre, and is currently studying a Bachelor of Food and Nutrition Science at Deakin University.


Indigo Reith

Indigo commenced her dance training at Mordialloc Dance Studio, where she completed 10 years of training before being accepted into the Kelly Aykers Full Time Dance Program. During her three years of full time dance training, Indigo completed her Certificate IV in both Dance and Dance Teaching and Management. Indigo has been assisting and teaching for the past 7 years gaining knowledge and developing into the fantastic teacher that she is.

Whilst at Kelly Aykers she performed in many opportunities including showcases, Masters of Choreography, Dance Architect, corporate performances and flash mobs. Indigo is excited to be joining the teaching team in 2019 after being a student of Mordialloc Dance Studio for 10 years.

Assistant Dance Teachers

We also have an enthusiastic team of assistant teachers helping in our junior classes. These assistants are students of ours who are now able to learn the skills of teaching dance from their senior teacher. Our assistant teachers this year are; Hannah Harvison, Indi Reith, Isabella Colman, Eliza Anderson, Orla Millerd, Tamika Sheehan, Abbey Geleit, Lucy Andrew and Tahlia Cengia.
