Jess Cogley

Dance coordinator

Jess began training in jazz and tap at the age of 9, and eventually picked up all other styles throughout her teenage years. Jess obtained her Certificate 3 in Performing Arts (Dance) at DanceWorld Studios, graduating in 2010, before beginning her full time dance training at Patrick Studios Australia in the Professional Development Course in Performing Art (Dance). Through this course, she trained extensively in jazz, commercial, contemporary, hip hop, lyrical, musical theatre, tap as well as singing and acting training; learning from some of the best teachers and choreographers in Melbourne.

Jess has performed at many corporate and charity events around Melbourne, gained experience in dance in television and has competed throughout Australia. Jess is a qualified Exercise Scientist, after having completed her Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science at Deakin University in 2017. In 2018 she will be commencing a Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours) at Monash University. Jess took on the position of Dance Coordinator in 2017, and has been teaching at Mordialloc Community Centre the past 9 years.

Nicole Kelly

Nicole has been dancing for 20 years and is trained in all styles of dance, including the Cecchetti method of Classical Ballet. Throughout her dance training she has performed for both stage and television, but her true passion lies in teaching. In 2009 Nicole obtained her T.A.A.D Diploma of Tap Dance and after completing a Bachelor of Science she went on to obtain her Graduate Diploma of Education (Secondary). For the past 10 years Nicole has taught children and adults of all ages at many dance studios across Melbourne, in a variety of dance styles.

During this time, she has successfully trained students for dance examinations and competitions, as well as being involved in the writing of pre-school dance programs. Nicole began teaching at the Mordialloc Dance Studio in 2011, and for 4 years she was the Dance Coordinator and Leading Teacher before she stepped down to pursue her school teaching career. Nicole is passionate about dance and childhood development and strives to teach dance classes of the highest standard in an inclusive and nurturing environment. She is excited to be returning to Mordialloc Dance Studio in 2018 for her 8th year.

Emma Green

Emma began dancing at the age of 5 learning the styles of Tap, Jazz and Ballet. After just one year of dancing she started competing in local competitions with solos and troupe work. At one stage she had 11 solos in all styles of dance: Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Contemporary, and Musical Theatre. When she was sixteen, Emma began training at Patrick Studios Australia where she was in the Senior Elite program for two years. After finishing her VCE, Emma began her Full Time Dance training with PSA in the Performing Arts Course and gained her Certificate 3 and 4 in Dance (2013).

Emma transferred over to the Musical Theatre Course in 2014 and graduated with a Diploma in Musical Theatre at the end of 2015. Whilst in the Musical Theatre Course Emma has performed in the show ‘Spring Awakening’, ‘Twisted Broadway’, and played the role of Cassie in ‘A Chorus Line’.

Whilst performing is a thrill, Emma’s passion lies within teaching, and she has taught dance for almost 9 years. This is Emma’s fifth year at MCC and she is ready for a big 2018 with her MCC Dance family!

Sophie Sheppard

Sophie has been dancing since she was 4 years old and is trained in all styles of dance. She has completed classical ballet, jazz and tap exams of the ATOD syllabus and is also experienced in contemporary, lyrical and hip hop. Sophie has represented her school and state at numerous competitions and performances, including in America and with Paul Malek’s Project Y.

She has taught locally for the past few years and began at MCC Dance in 2015. Sophie is currently studying Food and Nutrition Science / Commerce at university and in 2016 completed her Certificate IV in Dance Teaching and Management at Transit Dance.

Simone Woolley

Simone began dancing at the age of 3 at Centrestage Performing Arts School, in Brunswick. This where she began her training in all dance styles including ballet, jazz, tap, acrobatics, singing, musical theatre and contemporary. In 2004, Simone was accepted into the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School. During her time at VCASS, she had many amazing teachers who had extraordinary careers, thereby further developing her talent and passion for dance. In 2008, she was selected out of 20 of her fellow students to go on a dance exchange for 3 weeks to Scotland. Simone graduated from VCASS in 2009, completing year 12 with a score of 45 in her dance subjects. Simone had many options when finishing school and decided to follow her passion in Jazz and started her 2-year Full Time Performing Arts Course at Patrick Studios Australia. In 2009, Simone accepted her first contract performing in La Grand Cirque. Simone has since performed in numerous shows including Production Company’s Kismet, Opera Australia: Turandot, Opera Australia: The Ring Cycle, as well as national tours of Viva Las Vegas, Cabaret De Paris, Mystic Magic Show and her work with Crown.

Simone has been working as a dancer within the Crown Casino Entertainment Department for the last 8 years in numerous shows, private events, cheerleading, suitwork, Crown campaigns, TV commercials, photo shoots and roaming entertainment. She has also been lucky enough to have performed many times for Channel 9’s The Footy Show, Deal or No Deal, Talking About My Generation, Emirates Melbourne Cup, The Australian Open, Coles Entertainment, The Opening Ceremony of the Special Olympics and many fashion parades with brands like Big W, Pac Brands, Jockey, Intermo, Bonds and Loreal. In 2015, Simone accepted a contract with Norwegian Cruise Lines, travelling around the Bahamas for 8 months. On the ship, Simone performed Showdown and Vegas the Show.

Throughout 2017, Simone completed her Pilates teaching qualifications. Simone has been teaching and dancing for the last 7 years at many schools across Victoria.

Maddy Smith

Maddy Smith has been dancing since the age of 5. She moved to Melbourne from Adelaide to study her Certificate 4 at Patrick Studios Australia, then continuing with her Diploma in Dance at Transit Dance.

Since then she has continued to dance around Melbourne and has recently found her passion in teaching and choreographing which she continues to pursue. Maddy is excited to be joining the MCC Dance team in 2018, and cannot wait to work with you all.

Eloise Robertson

Eloise began dancing at the age of 11 with a musical theatre class and later picked up various other styles. She has trained in ballet under the RAD syllabus, as well as training for many years in contemporary, jazz, musical theatre and hip hop. Throughout her teens, Eloise participated in many local competitions in solos, duos and troupes, as well as competing for 6 years in the national championships for aerobics.

Eloise is currently studying a double degree of Primary Education/Arts at Monash University, graduating at the
end of 2018. Her passion for teaching, combined with her love for dance means that she aims to provide a dance
education that is both high quality and enjoyable.

Assistant Dance Teachers

We also have an enthusiastic team of assistant teachers helping in our junior classes. These assistants are students of ours who are now able to learn the skills of teaching dance from their senior teacher. Our assistant teachers this year are; Hannah Harvison, Indi Reith, Isabella Colman, Eliza Anderson, Orla Millerd, Tamika Sheehan, Abbey Geleit, Lucy Andrew and Tahlia Cengia.
